Podcast #7: Spring Awakenings in Mystic Country

Spring in Mystic Country can only mean one thing: that’s the re-opening of clam shacks and ice cream shops up and down the coast. In fact, two of the area's best-loved clam shacks recently received some nice accolades from Esquire Magazine. The March 2008 issue of Esquire features a "coast-to-coast list of the finest meals on sliced bread." Three Connecticut sandwiches made the list of 20, including TWO in Mystic Country! Listen to the podcast to find out who the winners were.

On this program we'll also be talking to Mike Madura of the Denison Peuquotsepos Nature Center about the advent of Spring and some ways you can get out and enjoy it. We'll also discuss what to do if you find a baby bird, rabbit, or other animal and give you some suggestions on how to enjoy Earth Day.

Finally on this program we want to give you the inside scoop about some great discount packages that will entice you to visit Mystic Country to enjoy the spring season and take some time to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul in the process.

So Happy Earth Day! Sit back for the next few minutes and let us bring you a little of the scent of spring from Mystic Country.

Podcast #6: Romantic Winter Getaways in Mystic Country

While the weather outside might be chilly, February is one of the most romantic times for couples to visit Mystic Country. Certainly spring, summer and fall are highlights of the year, but during winter the throngs of vacationers are gone and visitors can have the back roads and other attractions pretty much to themselves. Whether you're staying at a romantic bed and breakfast, wandering a scenic byway, or enjoying one of the area's fine restaurants, the pace is more relaxed, and you can be, too.

On this program we interview Dave Labrie, innkeeper at The Inn at Harbor Hill Marina, who talks about some great couples getaways in one of the most scenic and romantic settings in all of New England.

We'll also tell you about a number of other indoor activities that will keep you warm and toasty while still enjoying the wonderful things the area has to offer.

So sit back for the next few minutes and let us bring you a little of the romantic flavor of Mystic Country!

Podcast #4: Touring Connecticut Wine Country

Any time of the year is a good time to visit Mystic Country, Connecticut, but there's no doubt that — for many people — autumn is really special. The air is crisp, the leaves turn a hundred shades of red and gold, and and the hustle and bustle of summer gives way to the slower pace of fall.

Many people come back year after year to celebrate the changing colors of the season, and while that's certainly a good enough reason to visit, we've got a few other ideas for you as well.

If you're driving, why not take a self-guided tour of the hill towns and mill towns of Mystic Country, giving you a double dose of the area's history as well as its beauty.

For the slightly more adventurous, one of the most popular activities in the region is the series of annual "walking weekend" tours that will give you a somewhat more close up view of the area.

And along the way, celebrate the harvest season with a visit to one of Mystic Country's many fine vineyards and wineries, or make a day of it by attending a fall festival where you'll learn more about our area's agricultural heritage.

So sit back for the next few minutes and let us bring you a little of the fall flavor of Mystic Country!
